Vergiss mich nie

“Vergiss mich nie” Instagram series

about the fate of Swiss “Verdingkinder”

The series ran over the course of a month, in real time on the Instagram account ”Vergiss.mich.nie”  (forget.me.not), where it is now archived in the highlights.

The idea was to bring an often unspoken part of Swiss history to a younger target group on Instagram. “Contract children” were placed with new families by the authorities, often ending up working on farms. We told their histories through the story of the 14-year-old protagonist Anna and elaborated them further in the feed-posts. Using archive images and illustrations, we provided insights into the world between 1900 and 1978, with the goal of giving viewers an understanding of the era and society in Switzerland at that time.

The series was produced as part of my bachelor’s project for Cast/Audiovisual Media and in co- production with SRF (Swiss Radio and Television). In the process, my project partner and I took on a wide variety of jobs including story development, script writing, casting, directing, cinematography etc. We were also responsible for the development, execution, and management of the Instagram channel. As we were producing the first Instagram series in Switzerland, we had the opportunity to receive media attention.
